Such Pretty Faces

A Space to Relate and Create

Disclaimer: I am not a musician. I am not a performer. While I have always loved singing and have been told by many that I have a wonderful voice, I convinced myself at a young age not to pursue it because I “wouldn’t be good enough” and I told myself I had stage fright. I now know that I do not have stage fright, in fact quite the opposite. I feel very comfortable (and powerful!) commanding the stage when it is my turn to do so. But I digress.

Back to the topic: Music.

I find it so freaking powerful. There is nothing else I can think of that can lift my mood so quickly. Whether it’s an oldie but goodie or a new beat that I instantly fall in love with, music moves me. I am even happy belting out Disney movie songs with my kids and I encourage them to sing with gusto. That’s right- GUSTO. Because why not??

I do not know the science behind how the vibrations created alters atoms in the air and cells within our bodies to create such an uplifting – hell I don’t even know if what I just wrote makes any sort of logical sense. (Don’t worry, if my wife ever reads this she will let us all know. She is my Accuracy Chief in Residence.) But what I do know is that in the hustle and bustle of every day life, I often forget that connecting to what feeds my soul has VALUE and should be a standing “to-do” on my daily list. I venture to say there are many adults operating the same way. Yet it is never too late to engage more with what energizes us and for me that is music. So in case it is needed, I hereby grant my reader (hey mom) permission to have daily experiences with whatever moves you and raises your mood.  Your day will be infinitely better if you do.

Always peace and love
